A New Title and Cover. Revamping a Book's Look.

Sometimes you just gotta revamp a book's look.

^^This is the new look for FALLEN ANGEL, now titled HEAD OVER HALO. Fallen Angel was getting a lot of returns through Amazon.com, meaning people would purchase it, then get a refund. I was stumped as to why this was so, since this is one of my books I'm most proud of. The plot flowed for me, it was professionally edited, beta readers gave me really great feedback, and I just knew I'd find readers who'd really relate to the adorable main character Persephone and her mishaps.

But sales were saying the opposite.

So I went to my online writers group, and was assured the story was great, but the title and the cover picture wasn't as fitting as it could be. People who were viewing Fallen Angel were also viewing erotica, and so that was telling. People probably thought it was about a sweet girl gone bad. So, my goal was to give the story a new name and cover, which would also go well with my branding.

And this is what I came up with... (Technically, I have to thank my writer friend K.S. Haigwood for the title. Thanks!)

Here's the OLD cover to compare:

What do you think of the new one??

  1. As soon as you mentioned erotica, I looked at Fallen Angel in a whole new way!!! I can see how people could get confused ;) The new cover is as adorable as the book and the title is AMAZING! I think the whole look fits the book better, and speaks to the age group. Well done!! Your author friend is one sharp gal.

    1. I looked at it in a whole new way, too. Thank goodness Amazon shows "Also boughts," because there's a plethora of shirtless guys and NA romances in this book's list. LOL.

  2. I did the same thing as Jennifer. I loved the original cover until you mentioned erotica, and then I could see how people would get confused! I'd never thought of it that way before. I really like the new cover and the new title! It fits the story well. :)

    1. Yeah, I bought the book just so I could look at the formatting and text. I was sure there was some glitch making 99% of people return the book. But thankfully a friend of mine showed me that the book's "Also boughts," had a bunch of shirtless guys with rippling muscles. Yeah, that's so not what this book is about! Haha. Though, Theo is a pretty strong and handsome guy, he keeps his shirt on.
